Thank you for visiting my website. I'm Masoud R. Zargahi.
I was born in Tehran, the capital of Iran in sixties. I started painting as a child, but somehow I never went completely through any kind of artistic education. I am, so to say a self-taught artist!
In the early eighties, I started working as a decorative painter. Later on, I moved to Denmark and since then, living in Europe has always had an important impact on my art, as well as my development as an artist.
Many of my artwork highlight the feelings and emotions of existing between the east and the west. I cross the cultural boundaries by using symbols in my works, which come directly from the Persian and European cultures.
My paintings are not political, but somehow illustrate the human fate. Also my love of nature is revealed in many of my paintings and photographs. My works comprise paintings, water colours and acrylics. The style is objective/non-objective, and I like to use simple or multi colors to create the composition.
My photographs, as often, are more or less the dramatized landscapes or marinas, but I also try to capture the surface of the cities, especially during the night when life is quiet with no disturbing rush hours.
I live in Aarhus, the second largest city in Denmark and at the moment I hold a position as scientist (Enzyme R&D, since 1992).
